The Kursk-Root Icon Visits Novo-Gracanica Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church

On Friday, December 1, His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland brought the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God to Novo-Gracanica Monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Chicago. Here, Bishop Longin of Novo-Gracanica and Bishop Peter, Administrator of the Diocese of Chicago and Detroit of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, jointly performed a moleben with an akathist along with the clergymen of the Church Abroad and the Serbian Orthodox Church, to a multitude of Orthodox worshipers. At the end of services, Bishop Longin expressed his gratitude to Bishop Peter and the Russian clergymen for bringing the holy icon to them and for their joint prayer before it, serving as yet another example of the unity of the fraternal peoples of Russia and Serbia. His Grace Bishop Longin especially thanked Vladyka Peter for his constant support for the brotherly bonds between the two Churches. During the trapeza, Bishop Peter recounted the history of the Kursk-Root Icon, concentrating on the time it spent in Serbia. Below are photographs of the visit.
