His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia was enthroned during Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Apostles of the Patriarchate of Pec.

His Holiness was joined in the celebration of Liturgy by His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Nova Justiniana and All Cyprus; His Beatitude Metropolitan Christopher of the Czech Lands and Slovakia; hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as representatives of other Local Orthodox Churches, including His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel of Gaul of the Constantinople Patriarchate; His Eminence Metropolitan Kallinikos of Pelusium of the Patriarchate of Alexandria; His Eminence Archbishop Nifon of Philippopolis of the Antiochian Church; His Eminence Archbishop Theophylact of Jordan of the Jerusalem Patriarchate; His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk of the Russian Orthodox Church; His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of Zugdidi and Tsaishi of the Georgian Orthodox Church; His Eminence Irineu, Metropolitan of Oltenia and Archbishop of Craiova; His Eminence Metropolitan Dometian of the Bulgarian Church; His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion Theologos of Serres and Nigriti of the Greek Church; His Eminence Metropolitan Ignati of Belat, Vlora and Kanin of the Albanian Orthodox Church; His Eminence Archbishop Abel of Lublin-Chelm of the Polish Orthodox Church, and His Grace Bishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania of the Orthodox Church in America. Representing the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in the ceremony was His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland, Administrator of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America.
Upon the singing of the trisagion, His Eminence Metropolitan Ioann of Zagreb and Ljubljana and His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral thrice led His Holiness Patriarch Irineos to the Patriarchal Throne behind the altar table. After the dismissal of Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Amphilohije read the Act of the Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej and handed him the Patriarchal staff and panaghia depicting St Savva, traditionally handed down by succession since the time when King Alexander Karageorgijevic of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes gave it to His Holiness Patriarch Dimitrij. His Holiness was then seated on the cathedra of St Savva to the right of the altar table three times. Afterwards, the new Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church gave a sermon. At the end of this rite, the Serbian hierarchs signed the Act of Enthronement.
Attending this event was President Boris Tadic of Serbia; Chief Deputy of the Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Torshin; Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Konuzin; Victor Nedopas, Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia; the Belarussian Charge d’Affair in Serbia Siarhei Chichuk; Greek Ambassador to Serbia Dimostenis Stoidis; the heads of international presence in Kosovo, in accordance with a resolution by the UN Security Council No. 1244; members of the diplomatic corps of other nations; representatives of traditional faiths and confessions; as well as international Christian organizations.
At the end of Divine Liturgy, a reception was hosted at the Patriarchate of Pec, during which congratulatory messages were read to His Holiness. Metropolitan Ilarion read a letter from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. Metropolitan Ilarion then gave the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church a gift of a bishop’s pastoral staff from Patriarch Kirill.
