Bishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe Makes an Archpastoral Visit to the Mission of the Russian Church Abroad in Haiti
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Grace Bishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe made an archpastoral visit to the Parish of St Augustin in Jacmel, Haiti, in August 2010. Further information on the visit is found on the official website of the Orthodox Mission in Haiti.
The parish recently received a parcel of land where the parishioners hope to build a new church.
Vladyka Michael performed the blessing of the land. He was joined in the service by the Administrator of the Haitian Mission, Protopriest Daniel McKenzie and his assistant Priest Matthew Williams, Priest Jean Chenier-Dumais, Priest Gregoire Legoute and Deacon Andrei Roudenko of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.
The Orthodox parishes in Haiti are impoverished, as is the entire nation, following the destructive earthquake in early 2010, and all are in need of moral and financial support.
