The Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" Marks the Namesday of Bishop Jerome of Manhattan
On Tuesday, June 28, 2011, the feast day of St Jerome of Stridon, His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York. Also praying at the service was His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
At the end of Liturgy, His Grace read a sermon on the saint and called upon everyone in attendance to follow his example in humility. After the service, Vladyka Hilarion congratulated Bishop Jerome on his namesday, wishing His Grace God's all-strengthening aid in his archpastoral efforts, and offered him a gift of an icon in memory. Through the efforts of the Diocesan Chancery, a reception was given in honor of Vladyka Jerome in the large hall of the Synod Building, attended by archpastors, clergymen, members of the Synodal and Diocesan administrations and other worshipers.
