The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Performs a Pannikhida for Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laurus
On May 21, 2012, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia officiated at a pannikhida at Epiphany Cathedral in Elokhovo, Moscow, in memory of His Holiness the late Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia and the reposed Metropolitan Laurus of Eastern America and New York.
The service was performed at the tomb of Patriarch Alexy in the cathedral’s Annunciation Chapel.
His Eminence was joined by: His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations; His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, Vice President of the Synod of Bishops of ROCOR; His Eminence Archbishop Feofan of Berlin and Germany of the Moscow Patriarchate; His Eminence Archbishop Arseny of Istrina, First Vicar to Moscow of His Holiness; His Eminence Archbishop Innokenty of Vilnius and Lithuania; His Eminence Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe His Grace Bishop Sergy of Solnechnogorsk, Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate; Protopresbyter Matfei Stadniuk, Senior Priest of Epiphany Cathedral; Protopriest Vladimir Divakov, Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia on Moscow Affairs; Protopriest Nikolai Balashov, Vice President of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia visiting Moscow to celebrated the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion, and local clergymen.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church delivered a sermon before the pannikhida commenced.
