The Feast Day of Holy Martyrs Elizabeth and Barbara is Celebrated in Gethsemane Convent

On July 18, 2012, the feast day of Holy Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Nun Varvara, a festive Liturgy was celebrated at the Convent of St Mary Magdalene in Gethsemane, Jerusalem, where their relics are kept.All-night vigil and Divine Liturgy were led by Hieromonk Makary (Butin), the convent’s spiritual father, along with clergymen of both missions of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Holy Land and other visiting clerics. Also praying at the services were Abbess Georgia of Gorny Convent and her nuns, Abbess Moisseia of Holy Ascension Convent on the Mount of Olives and her sisters, sisters of mercy of Jerusalem’s St Elizabeth Sisterhood at St Alexander Podvorie, the parishioners of Gethsemane convent and other pilgrims.
