Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk Celebrates Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”
On the feast day of the Dormition of the Most-Holy Mother of God, August 28, 2012, His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, gave His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia the Medal of St Sergius of Radonezh, Second Level. Vladyka Kyrill merited this honor in view of his earnest labors for the good of the Church and his work in preparing the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Fort Ross. Metropolitan Ilarion also gave him a gift of a panaghia.
Archbishop Kyrill warmly thanked Metropolitan Ilarion for celebrating Divine Liturgy at his cathedral, for the gift and the medal.
Vladyka Kyrill in turn awarded the General Consul of the Russian Federation in San Francisco, Mr VN Vinokurov, and his wife, the Order of St John of San Francisco, First and Second Levels.
At the end of the service, everyone participated in a celebratory luncheon.
