DIOCESE OF CHICAGO AND MID-AMERICA: October 23, 2012
News from the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America
On Friday, October 12, 2012, the Conference of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America opened with the celebration of Divine Liturgy at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Chicago, IL. By fortunate coincidence, the Sretensky Monastery Men’s Choir from Moscow, on tour in the area, was invited to sing at the solemn Liturgy. His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland, Administrator of the Diocese, was joined by His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica (Serbian Orthodox Church) and a great host of clergymen from various parishes of the diocese. Many lay worshipers were in attendance, having gathered in Chicago to participate in the conference.
On October 13-14, His Grace officiated at divine services on the feast day of Holy Virgin Protection Church, which also drew a great many worshipers.
This coming Sunday, October 28, His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, will celebrate Divine Liturgy at the Chicago cathedral.
