Photo-Report of the Visit of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God to Orthodox Homes in Calgary and Edmonton
From May 31 to June 2, 2013, the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" was taken by its caretaker, Priest Nicholas Olhovsky, to Orthodox parishes in Calgary, Canada. Protopriest Peter Shashkoff, who organized visits to the parishes and to the homes of Orthodox faithful, ensured that the icon and Fr Nicholas were received warmly and piously. On June 3, the miracle-working icon was taken to Great Martyr Barbara Cathedral, where it was ceremoniously greeted by His Grace Bishop Iov of Kashira (Moscow Patriarchate), his clergymen and parishioners. They prayed before the Kursk-Root Icon during Divine Liturgy on the feast day of SS Constantine and Helen.
