Photo-Report on the Participation of Pilgrims From
the German Diocese in Divine Liturgy on Golgotha
On the night of Thursday to Friday, May 30-31, 2013, a group of pilgrims from the German Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, headed by His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, participated in a moving Divine Liturgy celebrated at Golgotha. In accordance with established tradition, every Friday , Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in the Holy City is celebrated specifically at Golgotha, the very site of the Crucifixion and Sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, General Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, along with Archbishop Mark, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, members of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulcher and other clergymen participating in the pilgrimage.
The pilgrims first worshiped at Matins in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, and as the Great Laudation was sung, they ascended with the archpastors and clergymen to Golgotha, where Divine Liturgy was then performed, at which the pilgrims partook of the Holy Gifts of Christ.
