On His Final Day in the Holy Land, Metropolitan Hilarion Celebrates Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Cathedral
On Wednesday, October 9, 2013, the feast day of the Evangelist St John the Theologian, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, as part of his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Russian Holy Trinity Cathedral in Jerusalem. At the end of service, His Eminence was congratulated by the Acting Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Feofan (Lukianov), who gave him an icon of St John the Forerunner as a gift.
Later that evening, the Convent of the Ascension on the Mt of Olives hosted a farewell dinner in honor of Metropolitan Hilarion, after which he departed for New York.
