The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad Departs from Australia to Moscow

On Thursday, January 28, 2016, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, flew from Sydney, Australia, to Moscow to participate in a regular session of the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church and the celebration of the seventh anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

On Monday, February 1, the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad will officiate at Divine Liturgy along with members of the Council of Bishops of the Holy Synod, representatives of Local Orthodox Churches in the hierarchal rank and archpastors of the Russian Church Abroad. The Synod of Bishops of ROCOR will convene that evening.

On Tuesday, February 2, the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church will convene. That evening, a meeting of hierarchs who serve abroad will be held.

On Thursday, February 4, Metropolitan Hilarion will return to Sydney.
