Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk Sends His Gratitude
On Thursday, October 13, 2016, the eve of the Intercession of the Most-Holy Mother of God, the Chancery of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia received a letter of thanks addressed to His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of ROCOR, from His Eminence Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk of the Moscow Patriarchate. Vladyka German wrote of the recent visit to his metropoliate of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign,” “During the period of the visit of this holy image, tens of thousands of Orthodox faithful were able to pray before our shared icon. For the people of our city and the pilgrims, the procession of the cross was a genuine triumph of faith. This year, the icon visited a large number of medical facilities, where the sick and suffering prayed to the Mother of God for relief.”
His Eminence also asked the Primate of the Church Abroad to have the Kursk Icon visit his metropoliate in 2017, which will be considered by the Synod of Bishops during its next session.
