Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Gives an Ecclesiastical Award to a Long-Time Member of the Synodal Administration
On Friday, October 14, 2016, the feast day of the Intercession of the Most-Holy Mother of God, during the celebration of Divine Liturgy in the church dedicated to the holiday in Glen Cove, NY, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, granted the double horarion to the parish’s clergyman Deacon Vladimir Barros.
Fr Vladimir was born in Chile, where he converted to Orthodox Christianity. He graduated from Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY, in the 1970’s and for many years worked in the Chancery of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in New York, NY. He served as subdeacon under Metropolitans Philaret, Vitaly and Laurus, as well as to Metropolitan Hilarion, including when he was a Vicar Bishop of the Eastern American Diocese. At the present time, Deacon Vladimir serves as deacon at Intercession of the Mother of God Church in Long Island, where he lives at the parish rectory.
Fr Vladimir offered his residence to the clerics who gathered for feast-day celebrations to prepare for the celebration of Divine Liturgy.
We wish Fr Vladimir Barros many years of continued service, good health and boldness of spirit!
