The Namesday of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad is Celebrated at the Synodal Residence
On Thursday, November 3, 2016, the feast day of St Hilarion of the Kievan Caves, His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at St Sergius Church at the Synodal residence in New York, NY. He was joined by clerical members of the Synodal administration and of the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign.”
During Liturgy and the moleben that followed, special petitions were intoned for the health and salvation of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of ROCOR, who celebrates his namesday on this day, and is on a trip to the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand, where the 20th anniversary of his ascent to that cathedra is being celebrated.
After the services, which were held in the presence of the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," Vladyka Nicholas congratulated everyone who came to pray for their Primate, who welcomes the prayers and support of his flock.
