The President of the Synod of Bishops Concludes an Archpastoral visit to the Parishes of the Russian Church Abroad in Great Britain
On March 13-20, 2017, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, President of the Synd of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia made an archpastoral visit to the Diocese of Great Britain. Metropolitan Hilarion met with His Eminence Archbishop Gregory, head of the parishes of the Constantinople Patriarchate in England and Ireland; His Eminence Archbishop Elisei of Sourozh, and the clergy and parishioners of the churches of ROCOR’s diocese, which was recently subjected directly to the President of the Synod of Bishops by the latter.
On Saturday, March 18, His Eminence officiated at Divine Liturgy and participated in the diocesan assembly at Dormition Cathedral, and the following day, after Liturgy, he chaired a meeting of the cathedral parish.
The Primate’s visit was given special significance by the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign.”
