Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Participates in Feast-Day Celebrations of St Sergius of Radonezh at Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra
On July 18, 2017, the feast day of the Translation of the Relics of St Sergius of Radonezh, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated Divine Liturgy at Uspensky Cathedral at Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad, Russia.
Joining His Holiness was a host of hierarchs and other clergymen of the Moscow Patriarchate and other Local Orthodox Churches, including His Beatitude Metropolitan Onouphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
The choir of Holy Trinity-St Sergius Lavra sang under the direction of Archimandrite Gleb (Kozhevnikov). Soyuz TV provided a real-time airing of the divine services.
After the augmented litany, Patriarch Kirill read the Prayer for Peace in Ukraine.
Hegumen Ilarino (Goyuk), Prior of the Lavra, delivered the sermon.
After Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, Metropolitan Onouphry, the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Moscow Patriarchate and other hierarchs in attendance performed a moleben before a venerated icon of St Sergius in the Sobornaya courtyard.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill then addressed the assembled worshipers from the balcony of the Patriarchal Residence.
In accordance with tradition, divine services were performed in all churches of the Lavra and at all of Moscow’s theological schools.
