DIOCESE OF AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND: 10 November 2022
St Nicholas Cathedral hosts a benefit concert

In 2023, a jubilee will be celebrated in the Australian city of Brisbane--the 100th anniversary of a Russian Orthodox parish on a fifth continent. In 1923, through the efforts of Archpriest Alexander Shabashev and with the support of local Anglican clergymen, a parish dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra was established.

The present community began celebration preparations in 2019, but of course, "Man proposes, God disposes," and the pandemic and other international events delayed the plans. Still, on November 6, 2022, on the feast day of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," the parish hall of St Nicholas hosted a benefit concert to raise funds for the jubilee celebrations.
