GERMAN DIOCESE: November 30, 2023
The German Diocese prayerfully celebrates the 43rd anniversary of the consecration of Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany

November 30, 1980, was the day of the episcopal consecration of His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany.

This year, on November 29, all-night vigil was celebrated at the Convent of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth in Buchendorf, and the next morning, Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the hierarchal rite.

His Eminence was greeted and prayed with him on this day by Priest Andrei Gubka, a cleric of the monastery, Archpriest Alexander Rolov (Augsburg), Priest Victor Mieszko and Deacon Michael Fastovsky of the Munich Cathedral, and lay pilgrims of the monastery.

In his sermon, His Eminence drew attention to the Beatitudes, calling upon all not only to hear, but also to obey and to try to fulfill these commandments in order to inherit eternal life.

At the festal luncheon, His Eminence was warmly congratulated by the abbess of the convent, Abbess Maria, and the sisters, wishing Vladyka health and strength for many more years, holding in his hands "the staff of Moses" of the German diocese, to lead the Orthodox people in the German land who embraced Russian culture and the traditions of the Orthodox Church.

Having received joy and consolation from prayerful communion in a quiet and at the same time solemn atmosphere, the pilgrims departed, glorifying the Lord in their hearts.
