I prayerfully congratulate you on the feast day of your heavenly patron, St Nicholas, Archbishop of Tokyo and Japan, Equal-to-the-Apostles.

St Nicholas was renowned throughout Japan for his genuinely fatherly attitude to the clergy and flock entrusted to him and to every person who sought Christ’s truth. Having accepted his name and the will of God during your tonsure, you were elevated to the lofty rank of First Hierarch, and through your zeal and pastoral care for your flock you emulate your heavenly protector.

On this day of your personal prayerful joy I earnestly wish Your Eminence strength and the blessed aid of God in your labors.
