Forgiveness Sunday in the Holy Land

On Sunday evening, March 17, 2024, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia), officiated at the Rite of Forgiveness after the evening service at the Ascension of the Savior Convent on the Mount of Olives. In his sermon, Fr Roman recalled that in this sacred and mysterious moment, on the eve of entering through the "doors of repentance," it is necessary to heartily and lovingly ask each other for forgiveness, remembering the words of the Paschal sticheron: "And we shall embrace each other. Brethren and those who hate us, let us forgive all things through the Resurrection!"
Then Fr Roman asked forgiveness from his fellow concelebrants, the abbess of the convent and all the sisters.

After the rite of forgiveness on the Mount of Olives, Archimandrite Roman went to the Gethsemane Monastery of St Mary Magdalene, Equal-to-the-Apostles, where the rite of forgiveness was also performed.
