NEW YORK: 23 March 2024
The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad sends condolences relating to the terrorist act in Moscow

9/22 March 2024

To His Holiness Patriarch KIRILL of Moscow and All Russia

Your Holiness Vladyka:

Upon hearing of the terrifying attack on the peaceful citizens of Moscow, I hasten to express my deepest condolences to Your Holiness, and through you to the archpastors, clergy and flock of the Russian Orthodox Church and the entire Russian people. Our thoughts and prayers in this bitter hour are with the relatives and loved ones of the innocent victims and suffering. May the Lord bestow His eternal peace to the reposed, and the speediest healing for the suffering.

Remembering today the miracle of Great Martyr Theodore the Tyro, who supported Christians in their difficult times of persecution, we pray, hope and believe that even now, through the intercession of this wondrous saint, “The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace” (Psalms 29:11), helping our dear brothers and sisters in the Fatherland to overcome the consequences of this tragedy.

Beseeching your holy prayers, I remain in constant love in the Lord,

+NICHOLAS
Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia
