The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad celebrates the services of Lazarus Saturday

On Friday, April 3, 2026, on the eve of Lazarus Saturday, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York prayed at the matins of Lazarus Saturday, and then performed the Sacrament of Unction at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York. His Eminence was joined by the cathedral clergy, with a large gathering of worshipers.

The next morning, His Eminence officiated at Divine Liturgy at St Seraphim Cathedral of the Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY. His Eminence was joined by His Grace Bishop Theodosius of Manhattan and the monastery clergy. During the service, Abbess Makaria and the sisters of the convent, as well as pilgrims, prayed.

After the service, the archpastors spoke with the nuns and clergy of the convent, after which they departed for New York to pray at all-night vigil on the occasion of the eve of the feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
