SOFIA, BULGARIA: 11 August, 2026 In Bulgaria, a miracle of healing was recorded after prayers to the Weeping Hawaiian Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. According to OrthoChristian (https://orthochristian.com/179487.html), His Eminence Metropolitan Gavriil of Lovech told believers about this case. According to the hierarch, a woman with a severe meniscus injury, who was being treated in one of Sofia's hospitals, turned to the Mother of God with a fervent prayer in front of Her miraculous icon. The very next day, she returned to the icon to thank the Most Blessed Virgin Mary for the miraculous relief from her ailment and the sudden improvement in her health. Sofia, the holy icon visited the town of Lovech, where it was brought by the caretaker, Father Nektarius Yangson, and Archpriest Ilya Marzev. Thousands of pilgrims prayed before the icon in the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius, including during all-night vigils. Before the miraculous icon departed, Metropolitan Gavriil collected the holy myrrh that had accumulated on it in a special vessel — it will remain in the Lovech Diocese for anointing the faithful. The holy relic will stay in Bulgaria until August 19, when the Holy Church celebrates the Transfiguration of the Lord. |
