Archbishop Kyrill Celebrates Divine Liturgy at Kazan Cathedral in Nakhodka, Russia

On November 21, 2013, the feast day of Archangel Michael and the Bodiless Heavenly Host, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia celebrated Divine Liturgy at Kazan Cathedral in the city of Nakhodka, in Russia’s Far East.

His Eminence was joined by His Grace Bishop Nikolai of Nakhodka and Preobrazhensk and clergymen of his diocese and of the Russian Church Abroad.

During the ambo prayer, the bishops and clergymen performed a short moleben to the Most-Holy Mother of God and Archangel Michael.
At the end of the service, Bishop Nikolai welcomed Archbishop Kyrill and his delegation, and in response, Vladyka Kyrill thanked Vladyka Nikolai for his warm hospitality and gave him an icon of the Mother of God “Quench My Sorrow” and a painted copy of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," as well as a decree of blessing on behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the Church Abroad, in recognition of his archpastoral work.

The miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon was brought to Kazan Cathedral in Nakhodka on November 18. It is estimated that over the three days the icon was in the diocese, until November 21, some 10,000 people venerated it.
