A Delegation of the Russian Church Abroad Brings the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign” to Krasnoslobodsky Diocese
On Saturday, October 8, 2016, the feast day of St Sergius of Radonezh, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at Resurrection of Christ Cathedral in the city of Krasnoslobodsk, Russia, in the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign.” Celebrating were His Grace Bishop Kliment of Krasnoslobodsk and Temnikovsk, and the caretaker of the icon, His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. They were joined by Archimandrite Innokenty (Rudenko), Prior of Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery in Sanaksarsk, clergymen of the Krasnoslobodsk Deanery, of the cathedral and the clergymen of the ROCOR delegation. Vladyka Kliment and Vladyka Nicholas then addressed the worshipers who came to venerate and pray before the miracle-working icon.
Later that day, Vladyka Nicholas visited the monastery and its cathedral, where he venerated the holy relics of the saints of Sanaksarsk, after which he learned about the history of the monastery.
A moleben and akathist were performed before the icon, and the woshipers were anointed with holy oil. During the icon’s visit, these services were performed every hour. At 3 pm, the Kursk-Root Icon left the city’s cathedral and was taken to Saransk, accompanied by Vladyka Kliment and his clergymen.
